Posted by Iva Radman – email

HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - The chairman of the Republican National Committee was in Henrico County last night, to stump for the man hoping to oust longtime Congressman Bobby Scott.

Michael Steele has kicked off a cross-country bus tour and one of his first stops was in Highland Springs, for little known candidate Chuck Smith.

Smith is a Republican hoping to win in a district that traditionally votes overwhelmingly in favor of Democrats.

Steele, the party chairman attempted to make the case that smith can win. Seventy percent of the voters the third Congressional district supported president Obama in 2008.

Steele says that Democratic margin "doesn't scare him."
