RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond fire and police departments switched their uniforms for baseball outfits Saturday.
The first annual Red vs. Blue charity game took over the Henderson Sports Complex.
The event was held to commemorate the sacrifice of all the first responders after the 2001 attack as well as to raise money for local charities.
The players hope to have a larger venue for future games.
"Hopefully we could see this a couple years from now being at The Diamond where we'll have a couple thousand people in attendance and the police and fire will be able to put on a great show," said Richmond Fire Department Lt. Shawn Jones.
The police department won the game 17 to 9 in front of a small but dedicated crowd of families and fans.
