RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A 58-year-old woman that was hit by a stray bullet returned home Thursday afternoon. This all happened in the 500 block of Hunt Avenue in Richmond's Highland Park neighborhood. Early this morning several shots were fired in her neighborhood and several of those bullets hit her house.
"I have health issues and I had my daughter to stay with me. If she hadn't been there I don't know what would have happened," she said.
The bullet entered through a bedroom wall and hit the woman on the forearm while she was sleeping. This is one of two houses that were hit overnight. Tonight neighbors are on edge.
"We've got little kids around here. Even though it was late at night, how about if it happened in the daytime?" one neighbor asked.
Besides the obvious bullet holes in the woman's home, police also found several 9 millimeter shell casings in the area. Several hours after the incident police are still seen passing through the neighborhood.
NBC12 asked the woman if she plans to stay here again overnight but her son quickly interrupted and said they'd rather not say where she's staying while the shooter is still on the loose.
