PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) – A murder mystery is unfolding in Petersburg. Three people were shot, two of them now dead and their killer is still on the run. This happened early this morning in the 2300 block of Navajo Court.

The victims, 30-year-old Nicholas Albrechta and 21-year-old Corey Tucker died at the hospital while the third person is still recovering. Petersburg police don't have many details tonight and are hoping someone from the community will come forward.

Police went door to door Friday afternoon looking for anyone that knew anything about a shooting in this Petersburg East apartment complex that claimed the lives of 2 people. Neighbors here describe how they felt waking up to the dramatic scene early that morning.

"It had messed me up so bad," said resident James Scott. "I was crying so hard last night because I had saw him that same night. That same night I saw him."

"It was blood in the hallway all on the ground all the way up the steps like he was trying to get up the steps," said witness, Laina White. "They had all this blocked off then they had blood on the ground all over there."

The sidewalk was covered in blood early this morning but has since been cleaned up. The gunfire woke up most of the residents. The scene they saw was enough to make them want to move.

"I'm ready to leave in a couple months," said White.

Laina White has been living in this complex for a few years now. This is not the first time she's seen a dead body in this neighborhood due to violence and she's scared to raise her family here.

"I don't want my son out here no more. I let him stay with his father right now because I don't want him running around and getting caught and get shot," said White.

The third victim that is recovering tonight, is a 27-year-old male. He's expected to survive. If you have any information that can help police, call Crime Solvers at 804-861-1212.
