City jail resident charged after allegedly assaulting contractor

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond City Jail resident has been charged after assaulting a female contract employee, according to a release from Sheriff C.T. Woody Jr.'s office.

The resident, Shane Foster, age 31, was charged with one count each of abduction by prisoner -- a class 3 felony; attempted murder: second degree -- a class 4 felony; and assault by an inmate on an employee -- a class 5 felony.

The Sheriff's Office is conducting a criminal and internal investigation to ensure all proper procedures were followed.
