RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Some local restaurants had to make some changes after getting some critical violations on recent state health inspections.
Starting in Chesterfield, Chang Sheng at 13568 Waterford Place had 4 critical violations. The inspector noted finding medicine in the food prep area. A manager declined to comment for our report. A follow-up inspection report is not yet available.
Staying in Chesterfield, El Tropicabana at 4900 Jefferson Davis Highway had 4 critical violations. The report says cooked rice was holding at an improper temperature. Violations were corrected during the inspection. A manager tells us everything has been corrected.
Moving to Henrico, River City Diner North at 803 East Parham Road had 5 critical violations, including that a slicer had food residue on it. The restaurant was spic and span for a perfect score on a follow-up inspection ten days later. We contacted the restaurant but did not receive comment.
This week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Burger King at 7501 West Broad Street in Henrico. This restaurant is the king of cleanliness, earning excellent scores on its last six health inspections.
Said manager Tom Dunnavang, "It's a reflection of the company, of us, and our community. We want to make sure we serve safe food to everyone as well as our families eat here, so we have to be safe about it."
