HANOVER COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Businesses along old Mechanicsville Turnpike in Mechanicsville Village can now expand their shops without dealing with county rules of adding parking or landscaping.

The Hanover Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday night to relax the zoning standards in the area.

Vice chairman, Deborah Coats, said she gives credit to the all the business owners and the planning commission for the years of work they put into this.

In addition, the board decided to grant tax-credits for older businesses now looking to expand.
