Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to host memorial to Robins

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond has lost one of its greatest philanthropists. Lora McGlasson Robins, the widow of E. Claiborne Robins, passed away at her home Sunday at age 98.

Over the years her generosity has been shared with nearly every educational and cultural institution in our city. Her family is also a huge supporter of the University of Richmond.

The family will receive friends and colleagues on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Library of the Education Building of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Immediately afterwards, there will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of the Education Building.

A reception will then follow in the Robins Visitors Center at Lewis Ginter. Interment will be private.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions be made to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, 1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228-4700, or online at www.lewisginter.org.
