RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Every month has its own unique set of products that are priced to sell. Here is the list for August.

With temperatures topping 100 degrees, heating your home may be the last thing on your mind. But if your house uses heating oil, now may be the time to fill up.

"Filling your tank up now would save you money," said Rob Baily, Woodfin GM of Residential Services.

Woodfin tells us the typical fill up ranges from 100-150 gallons. You might not be on empty, but there are advantages to ordering now. Heating oil prices are 30-50 cents cheaper per gallon right now. Waiting until it gets cold can cost you.

"The price is going to go up some, we expect prices similar to what they were last year," said Baily.

An added benefit to an August refill, less condensation in the tank which helps preserve the integrity of the system.

Students are heading back to school and one essential supply is the computer. August tends to be the month many go on sale, so take advantage this month if you're in the market for one.

Many stores need to clear room for seasonal wares. Most all retailers have pool or beach items marked down 50-75%. Home Depot has slashed prices on patio furniture.

"50-60% off at select stores," said Paul Henderson, Home Depot Specialty Asst. Store Manager.

Want to change the color of a room? Due to the high turnover rate, paint tends to be cheaper in the summer.

August is a great time to get out of the heat and do interior projects. That's why Home Depot has cut some material prices in half.

"From 399 down to 169...we actually have some that are down to 99 dollars," Henderson said.

Fall planting will be in full swing in a few weeks and with that, comes a big sale on perennials.

"They want to get them out right now, they have a good price on them so we can actually make room for the mums," he said.
