RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The tax free holiday may have come and gone, but you can still save big on your child's school supplies. The list is different every year and many businesses are vying for your school supply spending.
We checked 13 major retailers to see who could offer the lowest price on any brand without the use of coupons, bonus cards or mail in rebates.
The least Bang For Your Buck is at Food Lion. If we purchased all 22 items on our list, we'd be spending $59.06. It's not much cheaper at Rite Aid where our supplies would cost $48.06. It starts to get a bit less expensive at CVS, our list would be $39.19 and if we shopped at Kmart, we'd spend $36.98.
Walgreens out priced other drug stores totaling out at $25.47. Big lots had everything we needed and came out to $22.63.
The top two bargain stores are Target and Walmart. Target's final price for everything is $16.74, but the absolute lowest price you can get supplies is at Walmart with a grand total of $13.
Consumers have caught on to the deals, so you have to act quickly.
Walmart has another offer for consumers, they will price match any competitor's printed ad. This week office depot's plastic binders are 50 cents cheaper than Walmart. Walmart honored the office depot's price, no questions asked.
