UPDATE: Prime Outlets incident was "drug deal gone bad"

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (WWBT) - A shots fired investigation at Prime Outlets in Williamsburg has been described by police as a "drug deal gone bad."

James City County police said Rashaun Chapman, 21, of Newport News is charged with discharge of a firearm in public, reckless handling of a firearm, and brandishing a firearm a firearm.

Chapman and another individual met a third person for a drug exchange when Chapman fired shots around 9:15 a.m.

Police found several shell casings outside the food court area.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police are asking if any witnesses may have seen a blue sedan in the area Wednesday morning to call Investigator Pennycuff at 757-259-5163.
