CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – Everyday dozens of people come to a Chesterfield library circulation desk for information on job searches. The request has become so popular librarians created a list of everything a job seeker needs to know.

Dressed to the nine's, Gary Dupree's in a hurry to print out his resume.

"I'm going to be going to a career fair," said Dupree. "And so I wanted to make sure that I got myself ready."

For the last two years he's battled a heart condition. Today the former human resource officer is ready to get back to work.

"Just recently I went to update my resume here and I just got a call from someone who has interest in me as a recruiter," he said.

Strapped for cash Gary hunts for jobs at the library.

"This is where I come. This is my office away from home," said Dupree.

He brings in his flash drive, uploads his resume and takes advantage of the free services like pathfinder. It highlights current, relevant and reviewed websites. It lists articles, help and suggestions.

"I can go to websites. I can go look up resources if I need to, to see how to improve my resume. There's a plethora of things I can utilize to improve my job search," he said.

Librarians say hundreds of people have used the pathfinder. In fact, one person used the resource to open his own business.

"He started at the library, using our wireless on his own laptop," said librarian Angela Burt.

Gary now hopes for his own success story.

Do you get excited about coming? "You know, I get happy that there are jobs out there," said Dupree. "If you come here, at least you have that chance to start feeling like you can re-build your career. And that's what it does for me."

The pathfinder is constantly being updated and is available to everyone for free.
