CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - A frustrated Chesterfield couple called '12 On Your Side' after eight days without power and no luck with Dominion Power. Upset and exhausted, John Carr asked us to investigate.
When power was restored through out the neighborhood, John Carr thought it was only going to be a matter of time until his power comes back on. But days later he and his wife and out of town guests were still in the dark.
"We called Monday and that's when they told us, 'hey you got power', I said, 'no we don't have power' and that was the biggest argument has been because their computers are saying we're hooked up and it's not hooked up," said Carr.
Eight days later John called us. It's been an expensive week for John and his wife. They've been staying at hotels every night, eating out every night and on top of that, they had to throw everything away, out of their fridge.
Temperatures inside the house reached up to a hundred degrees keeping everyone outside.
"When the tree hit the power line it tore from the top of the house all the way down to that meter box," John said.
John knew the connection wasn't there. Soon after we called Dominion ourselves, John got a call.
"I get a call from Dominion, their customer service man called me up and said he'll get somebody out here in an hour, which I'm tickled pink," he said.
When the crews finally showed up it was a big relief for everyone. Dominion had failed to reconnect a downed power line to the Carr's home after last week's storm.
When the crews finally showed up, it was a big relief for everyone. Crews got to work, and power was ultimately restored.
