CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield county is taking a closer look at security at its parks.

Several proposed changes come on the heels of a recent shooting and vandalism at Rockwood Park.

The parks and recreation advisory committee met with the police department to come up with a plan of action. They've narrowed it down to three main changes.

Parks and Recreation leaders want to set the sports lighting timers back to 9:00 p.m. on all basketball courts starting Friday.

Police will increase patrols in the parks, and parks staff will consider buying and installing security cameras at the Rockwood Park basketball courts area.

After last month's shooting and vandalism, park-goers are ready for a positive change. They want to feel safe again while having fun.

Thursday's Parks and Recreation meeting starts at 7pm.

We'll keep you posted on-air and online about the results.
