COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - On July 30 at approximately 5:45 p.m. a black male armed with a handgun entered the Subway restaurant located at 1062 Temple Ave. and demanded money from the cashier. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash the suspect fled the store and was last seen getting into a gold colored vehicle with large silver rims driven by a second suspect.
A Colonial Heights detective, who was in the area when the call came out, observed the vehicle traveling eastbound on Temple Ave. towards Prince George County. A traffic stop was conducted and both suspects fled on foot.
One suspect was apprehended after a brief chase. The second suspect fled through the woods into a gravel lot off of Puddledock Rd. K-9 units from Prince George County and Petersburg Police Departments responded to assist. The second suspect was tracked to a vehicle parked at a business on Puddledock Rd. where he was found hiding.
23-year-old Robert Jones was charged with: accessory after a robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, felony eluding police in a vehicle, eluding police on foot, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance.
33-year-old Francis Davis was charged with: robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Davis also has numerous outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions including robbery and weapons violations.
