HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A lake that threatened to drain dry in Henrico's County West End is now looking much better.
After seeing a July 8 report on NBC12, neighbors took matters into their own hands. One of them installed what appears to be a wrap, clamped around the holes in a busted drainage pipe. The pipe is located in the middle of a dam, and for the past ten days water had been spewing from what's officially known as "Shadow Pond" into a nearby stream.
Neighbors say the owner of the property is 93 years old and just returned from the hospital, so she was unable to correct the problem on her own. Neighbors said they signed a petition agreeing to help cover the cost of the fix.
The lake, which is located between Roslyn Hills Drive and Twin Lake Lane, now looks to be at its usual level (see photos at right).
