RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - As of July 8, the U.S. Drought Monitor is indicating that many areas in central and eastern Virginia are now experiencing moderate drought conditions.
The exceptional heat we've been dealing with in recent weeks along with the continued lack of rainfall has taken its toll.
We still have a decent shot at some rain on Saturday as a cold front moves into the mid-Atlantic region. In all likelihood, the rain we do see won't be enough to reverse the recent dry spell.
Ideally, the downpours associated with a weakening tropical system would be just what the doctor ordered. If you're interested in monitoring the latest on drought conditions in Virginia, you can find the information at http://drought.unl.edu/dm/DM_state.htm?VA,SE
