Hanover declares ban against open burning

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - Effective 12:01 a.m. on Monday, July 12, open burning is banned in Hanover County due to the drought.

The ban on open burning was declared by the County Administrator today after consulting with the State Division of Forestry and the Fire Marshal.

Failure to comply constitutes a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500. Each violation or failure to comply shall constitute a separate offense.

The prohibition remains in effect until the County Administrator declares the hazardous condition and the prohibition to have terminated.
