RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The driver and bus monitor accused of leaving a four-year-old alone on a Richmond city school bus appeared in court this morning.
Alvin Matthews, 43, and Irene Jenkins, 60, are both charged with one count of felony child neglect.
Matthews was driving the bus that was taking four year old Nyheim Butler to summer school.
Jenkins was riding along as a monitor because the bus was for children with special needs.
On Tuesday, police say they left the child on that bus for over an hour on one of the hottest days of the year.
Both were appointed attorneys today and will appear in court in August.
