Richmond woman arrested after attempt to bring drugs into jail

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr., today reported the arrest of a Richmond woman last weekend for possession of marijuana after she attempted to enter the visitation area of the City Jail with the drugs concealed in her purse.

On Saturday at 12:20 p.m., Rainn Anita Harvey, 29, was detained and arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana after a mandatory search before entering the facility. She was subsequently processed and released on a $500 bond.

Simple possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail, a $500 fine for a first offense, or both.
