RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It took just three minutes this morning for Richmond Police to find and arrest a man who robbed a South Richmond bank on East Belt Boulevard.
According to bank tellers, the robber entered the BB&T at 200 East Belt Boulevard at approximately 9 a.m. and passed a teller a note demanding money. He did not display a weapon.
With the assistance of citizens who spotted the man running and trying to scale a fence, officers quickly caught the robber.
Joseph L. Gilliam, 24, of Chester, will be charged with bank robbery. He's also suspected of robbing the Virginia Credit Union, 720 East Broad Street, yesterday morning.
A mugshot of Gilliam will likely be released tomorrow after investigators have had time to meet with witnesses.
