RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A train carrying hazardous materials derailed overnight in Richmond. The rail company, CSX is handling this investigation as crews try to figure out what caused a couple of train cars to jump the tracks.

It happened just after one o'clock this morning near the intersection of East Main and Orleans Streets, that's right before Rockett's Landing on the Richmond side.

Richmond Police and hazmat crews from both Richmond and Henrico were there to clean up the mess.

Two train cars derailed. They were carrying hazardous materials, but nothing was released and there was no danger.

Roads in the area were closed for a while overnight, but it's all clear now.
