HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - A traffic alert if you use the Huguenot Bridge: VDOT will close the bridge twice  Thursday morning for up to 15 minutes as they continue bridge repair work.

The closures will be sometime between 9 am and noon. During the two 15-minute delays, crews will shut down both the north and southbound side of the bridge. We do not know exactly when the bridge will close.

VDOT crews are set to remove a support system that was used to hold the bridge in place while repairs were made. This is work that can only be done when there are no cars on the bridge.

The bridge required emergency repairs in June after engineers found a concrete pier cap on the south end of the bridge that was falling apart. Because of the problem, the weight limit sits at 3 tons.

Once this temporary work is complete and an inspection is done, the bridge will return to its normal weight limit.

During those inspection days the bridge may be closed for several days.

Then, starting sometime around October or November crews will begin permanent repairs to the bridge, costing around 65 million dollars.
