UPDATE: Accident shut down 2 lanes of I-64 eastbound

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – An accident that happened around 7:45 a.m. on Interstate 64 eastbound shut down two lanes of traffic at Parham Road this morning. The roads have now been cleared.

Virginia State Police reported a crash on the ramp from westbound I-64 to Staples Mill & another wreck westbound at Broad/Glenside (shoulder activity).

Henrico Police are worked a crash on eastbound I-64 at Broad/Glenside. They were reports of boxes in the road.

One driver rear-ended another headed westbound. Police said that Robert Quinn of New Kent County was charged with following to close in that accident.

A Nissan heading west on I-64 rear-ended a BMW and and then crossed over into the eastbound lanes and hit a another car. Karen Anderson, 42, of Chesterfield was charged with following to close and no seatbelt. Anderson was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

State police said I-64 was backed up in each direction and now we have reports that Broad Street is congested because of all the vehicles escaping I-64.
