RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The speed limit on a stretch of I-295 from Prince George County to Richmond will be increased to 70 mph, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
It will be from where I-295 meets I-95 in Prince George to just south of the Route 60 and I-64 interchanges on I-295. The law takes effect Thursday, July 1.
NOTE: Virginia State Police will be enforcing the posted speed limit. This means that if the sign still reads 65 mph on Thursday morning before they have the opportunity to change it, that is the speed limit that will be enforced.
