Fire station demolition begins Friday

Posted by Shawn Maclauchlan

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Demolition begins Friday on an old Henrico County firehouse.

Crews are tearing down the station at the corner of Forest and Patterson avenues to make room for a new building.

Meantime, firefighters are staying in a nearby home purchased by the county.

Demolition and construction will not affect service or response times.

Some bricks from the old station will be set aside for crew members who want to hold onto a piece of history.
