RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It will soon cost more to rent space at Chesterfield County schools.

According to the Chesterfield Observer, rates will increase 20 percent, starting July 1.

Many churches and community organizations routinely rent auditoriums, gyms and other parts of school buildings for Sunday services and activities.

This is the biggest rent increase since 1995.

Chesterfield schools say the new rents will generate an additional $128,000 extra per year.

The school system made $715,000 on rental fees just last year.
