CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) - A new online petition is demanding an explanation about surveillance video from the night Morgan Harrington disappeared.

Morgan vanished during an October 17 Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville. An Albemarle farmer found her skeletal remains in late January.

More than one hundred people have signed the petition since its creation last week. They want to know why there is no video of Morgan that night and they're demanding arena security staff release the surveillance footage to the public.

"Where is Morgan?" is the title of the online petition. People across America and as far away as Germany have signed the petition sponsored by Findmorgan.com. Longtime Charlottesville resident Diana Salmon added her name to the growing list Monday night.

"I think they're shooting for a thousand signatures on it," said Salmon.

Like many others, Salmon wants to look at the October 17 John Paul Jones Arena surveillance video. Mainly footage of the entrances. Morgan ended up locked outside the night she disappeared.

"If so, that should be on a tape. It doesn't make sense," said Salmon.

Virginia State Police say investigators already poured over several hours of arena security video to build a timeline. They say the video has no value to the case because Morgan isn't on it.

"I want to know why nothing is showing. Why is she not seen on these tapes? It's just seems incomprehensible with all the security they supposedly have - state of the art technology, that there is nothing," said Salmon.

A UVA spokesperson says any John Paul Jones Arena surveillance tapes are part of the police investigation and would not comment on an active case. A case that's gone unsolved for eight months.

"For something this horrendous to have happened, and still be unsolved, and not to know what happened; that person who did this is still out there and I hope they can't live with themselves," said Salmon.

The petition also demands an explanation as to what kind of security equipment the arena uses to keep people safe. Meantime, we still don't know how Morgan died. The medical examiner's office says a cause of death is still pending.
