Deadly accident involving motorcycle and school bus

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - On June 15, 2010 around 2:33 p.m. Petersburg Public School bus #61 carrying students from Vernon Johns Middle School and Petersburg High School was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident at the intersection of the 1600 block of Dupuy Road and Pleasants Lane. All 21 students and two adults on the bus were screened and cleared by emergency personnel on scene. Students were transferred to another bus and taken home.  Crisis Teams will be available throughout the week at both Vernon Johns Middle School and Petersburg High School to help students who may need to talk to a professional about the incident.

The motorcycle victim is 38-year-old Ron Brown of Petersburg. The Southside Virginia Emergency Crew transported Brown to Southside Regional Medical Center where he died shortly before 3:30 p.m. 

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
