CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Around 9:15 a.m., a power line failure caused several buildings in the Chesterfield County Complex to lose power. Some offices are using generator power.
All offices remain open but may be minimally staffed and some services may not be available. If residents can wait until Tuesday for county business, the county is encouraging residents to do so, according to a spokesperson with Chesterfield.
Dominion Virginia Power estimates power to be restored after noon.
A spokesman for Dominion said that the outage happened because a wire came down on Wagner Way near the government complex. This was around 9:15 a.m., and it affected 2,300 customers. Power was restored to most of those customers by 9:50 a.m.
There are still 12-14 customers without power because Dominion will have to make more repairs. Those customers may be without electricity until 2-3 p.m.
