CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – One of the passengers in the single-vehicle crash that occurred in the 800 block of Courthouse Road on June 12 has died.
Christopher S. Matherly, 18, of the 4100 block of Gloucestershire Street died Sunday night at VCU Medical Center. Police said Matherly was riding in a vehicle traveling south on Courthouse Road when the driver lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a tree. One other passenger has since been released from VCU Medical Center.
The 17-year-old driver is currently charged with driving under the influence. Additional charges are forthcoming. His name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
