Animal gnaws through fiber optic wire interrupting SOL testing

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - Hanover County students resumed SOL testing today after an unusual problem came up on Monday.

A school spokesperson says some type of animal, most likely a squirrel, gnawed through the fiber optic wire that carries internet service to the eastern portion of the county.

Luckily the students hadn't started testing yet when service was interrupted, so it was easy to reschedule.

Oak Knoll, Chickahominy and Stonewall Jackson Middle Schools, and Atlee and Hanover High Schools were affected.
