CHILE (AP) - The U.S. Government is charging Joran van der Sloot with extortion. Van der Sloot allegedly tried to get money, in exchange for the location of Natalee Holloway's body.
Police in Chile have detained th Dutchman sought in the murder of a woman in Peru.
Van der Sloot was taken into custody this afternoon. He was the last person seen with a Peruvian woman found dead in a Lima hotel room.
Van der Sloot was twice arrested in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.
Chief of detectives Col. Miguel Canlla says police are seeking Joran van der Sloot in the Sunday killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel.
The girl's father, Ricardo Flores, says van der Sloot appears with her in video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday.
