Teen dies after jump from bridge into Appomattox river

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County Police have released the identity of an Ettrick teen who drowned in the Appomattox River on Monday as that of Tevin A. McCray, 18, of the 3100 block of Dupuy Road. 

Police said McCray and some friends jumped from Campbell's Bridge at about 2:50 p.m. McCray surfaced, had difficulty swimming and went under the water at which point a swimmer attempted to help McCray.

The Chesterfield Fire and EMS Dive Team later found McCray, who was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
