CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Tonight -- murdered UVA student Yeardley Love is a graduate... Honored today with a posthumous degree.

Her classmates, dressed in their caps and gowns, donned white ribbons, to remember a life taken just before hers was about to take the next leap!

There was a moment of silence for the four UVA students who have passed, including Love.

It was a somber moment on a day thousands celebrated their accomplishments.

The university remembered Love who was beaten to death...her ex-boyfriend, George Hughley, a former lacrosse player himself, is behind bars charged with her murder.

In a bittersweet graduation, students were mostly smiles and cheers as they ended this chapter in their lives.

It was a proud day for everyone.

"I hope it is for you a time of expressing some gratitude to those whom we've applauded earlier, family members, parents, spouses, teachers, mentors, close friends, it's also of course to celebrate you and your achievements," said UVA president John Casteen.
