RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Fan District Association's Party Patrol will be working overtime this graduation weekend--hoping to curb underage drinking and noise.

Lots of VCU students live in the fan district near campus.

The purpose of the party patrol program is to curb underage drinking and to educate residents about alcohol abuse.

The Fan District Association says they know adults have parties too and in this case, graduating seniors are likely old enough to drink, but noise is often an issue too.

The FDA works with the Richmond Police Department and says the main goal is to help young adults out on their own develop a sense of responsibility and the desire to work with the community to make it a better place to live.

Over the years, Party Patrol has encouraged the responsible use of alcohol and cut down on noise nuisance between the hours of midnight and 4 am.

Party patrol will be operating Friday through Sunday night from 9 pm to 3 am.

To report an issue, you can call 549-6962.

After the weekend, Party Patrol will take a break until mid-August when VCU's fall semester begins.
