RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The restaurants in this Restaurant Report range from fast food to a spot on a ten best list. But inspectors say they all cleaned up the problems right away.
Starting in Richmond with a restaurant on the 10best.com list: Perly's Restaurant at 111 East Grace Street had 4 critical violations. The inspection report says blood was observed on packages of cheese. All violations were corrected by the follow-up inspection two weeks later. The manger tells us they appreciate the health department for helping to keep customers healthy and happy.
Also in Richmond, Kobe Japanese Steaks and Sushi at 19 South 13th Street in Shockoe Slip had 4 critical violations. The inspector wrote that employees were observed handling ready-to-eat food with their bare hands at the sushi bar and touched lemons for drinks. All violations were corrected during the inspection. We contacted the restaurant, but did not receive comment.
Moving to Henrico, KFC/Long John Silver's at 11190 West Broad Street had 4 critical violations. The report says two pieces of Long John Silver's chicken were undercooked when placed in the hot hold unit. A manager tells us all violations were corrected the same day. The restaurant had a perfect score on its previous inspection.
We head back to Richmond for this week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award. Carolina Bar-B-Que at 3015 Nine Mile Road has earned perfect scores on its last three of five inspections and hasn't had a critical violation over the last year.
