Former Richmond News Anchor is running for Congress in Connecticut

Then.. Then..
Now Now

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – A former Richmond News Anchor, Janet Peckinpaugh, is now throwing her hat into the political ring.

You may remember Janet Peckinpaugh as a weather-caster, here on Channel 12. She worked with Gene Cox in the early 80's. After leaving here, Janet gave up weather and became a news anchor at Channel 8, at that time, in Petersburg.

After 20 plus years as a news anchor at several stations in the Hartford / New Haven market, Janet Peckinpaugh is running as a Republican for Congress. Republicans in that State Caucus vote on Friday, which will determine her political future.

Ironically, it's her work in TV, specifically those commercials for "scandal ridden" Lend America, that could hurt her:

She faces three other candidates for the Republican nomination, and the chance to run against democratic incumbent, Joe Courtney, in the fall.
