RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - New numbers show a 16 percent increase in visitation from overseas travelers to Virginia in 2009.
Virginia led growth among the six states that also showed an increase from last year.
According to the US Department of Commerce, New York was the most-visited state by overseas travelers for the seventh consecutive year.
Tourism is a big-bucks industry in Virginia, generating $19.2 billion in revenue, and supports more than 200,000 jobs.
