GOOCHLAND, VA (WWBT) - Three area men have been arrested after attempting to steal a car at gunpoint in Goochland County Sunday afternoon.

Eric Andre Poindexter Jr., 23, of Louisa, Corey Demetruse Mallory, 23, of Henrico and Marquis Antoine Thomas, 22, of Mineral were arrested on Sunday and charged with robbery.

Poindexter was additionally charged with the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The incident happened Sunday just before 2:30 p.m.. Deputies responded to a 911 call for a robbery from a person on Danieltown Rd near Route 6 in Goochland County.

The male victim stated to authorities that he had contacted Poindexter for a ride, according to police. Shortly after he was picked up by the three suspects, the driver stopped the vehicle and Poindexter produced a handgun, firing a shot and ordering the victim out of the car.

Once out of the vehicle, Poindexter allegedly fired another shot next to the victim's head, then pointed the gun at the victim's head and told him to empty his pockets. After taking almost $300 from the victim, the suspects fled from the scene in the car.

Deputies stopped the vehicle shortly after and detained the suspects for questioning. The handgun was recovered from the shoulder of the 3800 block of Route 6 and cash was recovered from the suspects.
