Search continues for would-be convenience store robber in Caroline

CAROLINE, VA (WWBT) - The sheriff's office in Caroline County is still looking for the man who tried to rob a convenience store but was stopped by a bottle-wielding customer.

The lead investigator in this case told said today that they have received numerous tips in the case. While they continue to follow leads, the man at the center of the dramatic video is still on the loose.

The would-be robber's crime was interrupted when a 61-year-old Maryland man grabbed two beer bottles and smashed them over the perpetrator's head.

The good Samaritan was then shot in the leg and chest.

The victim is already home and recovering, but the man responsible for this incident is still out there and the Caroline County Sheriff's Office needs your help to bring him to justice.

"If they have any idea if they think it might be, let us weed that out," said Sheriff Tony Lippa of Caroline County. "Call the Sheriff's Office, call the tip line, call your local police if you are out of the area and they can get in touch with us so we can follow up on it."
