RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Councilman Charles Samuels is reaching out to the community through a meeting Wednesday afternoon to talk about his concerns.

Those include the rash of recent dangerous "teen parties" that are creating an unsafe environment for Richmond families and neighborhood restaurants and businesses.

The latest murder happened at two Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the parking lot of a club in the 1600 block of East Grace Street where they found Reshawn Thurman of Petersburg shot to death.

Today's meeting will include members of the Virginia Department of ABC, Richmond police department, and other city staff. The focus will be a warning to parents about children being lured into dangerous places like un-chaperoned teen parties.

Local business owners are happy - saying they know the effort against the recent violence is not just up to police.

The meeting starts at 4 in the auditorium at the Richmond police departments training academy.

That's located at 1202 West Graham Road in the northside.

NBC12 will have a crew at the meeting and will bring you more details in our evening and late night newscasts.
