Chesterfield needs to trim another $20 million in school budget

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - The Chesterfield School Board is reaching out to the community for suggestions on where it can cut another $20 million from it's school budget.

Chesterfield county public schools is anticipating the reduction for the 2012 budget.

In the last year, Chesterfield public schools already slashed nearly $80 million from it's budget, eliminating more than 600 positions.

The school board needs community input on the next cuts which could effect specialty programs, transportation or athletics.

A community meeting is set for tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Chesterfield Technical Center off of 10101 Courthouse Road.
