RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - City council will be hammering out a long list of budget amendments.
Six pages in fact. And millions of your taxpayer dollars are at stake.
And some things at stake are things many of you have cried out for - including a new jail and new schools.
But it's those things and more that one council member wants to put a stop to, for now.
"The one thing I'll say about government, nothing moves fast," said Councilman Bruce Tyler. "The schools should have been built. The jail should have been fixed and every year we go through this cycle and we throw money at it and everybody feels good that we're trying to do something."
But Mayor Dwight Jones says they stand by the money they are asking for and there is appropriations in the budget to get the work done.
Another item on the potential chopping block: one million dollars in funding to GRTC. But some council members expressed concern this could lead to fare increases and cuts in services.
