16-year-old dead after post prom car accident

KING GEORGE, VA (WWBT) – One teen is dead and four others injured after a car accident in King George County.

Shortly after 1:00 Sunday morning police say a car traveling east on Route 218 near Basil Rd. went off the side of the road and hit a utility pole.

The car then rolled several times ejecting the driver and three of four passengers inside the vehicle.

Two teens, including 16-year-old Anthony L. Feathers, were taken by MedFlight to Mary Washington Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police say Feathers later died at the hospital.

The other three teens involved in the crash receive serious injuries and were taken by ambulance for treatment.

Police say the group was headed to a high school after-prom party.

According to police speed is a factor in the crash though investigators are still looking into the cause.
