BALTIMORE, MD (WWBT) - More reports of violence involving a UVA lacrosse player accused of beating his ex-girlfriend to death.
The Washington Post reports 22-year-old George Huguely attacked a sleeping teammate in February of 2009 after hearing the teammate may have kissed Yeardley Love.
Love was found beaten to death on Monday morning.
Huguely is charged with first degree murder.
The post reports Huguely's coach knew about the incident and even disliked Huguely.
It's not clear if the men's lacrosse coach informed the university.
The news comes the day hundreds of friends and family said goodbye to Love.
We're told she brought love and light into the lives of everyone she met.
Yeardley Love was laid to rest Saturday.
Her family held a private and somber ceremony in Baltimore at the Cathedral of Mary our Queen.
Yeardley's teammates from the UVA women's lacrosse team were bussed in just before the ceremony.
Hundreds more came to the say goodbye to both a sister and friend.
"It almost feels like it's not real," said family friend Leigh Erlandson. "You're in shock and I know that everyone is numb from this. I've been crying for days on end."
"I just wanted to reconnect with her family and reconnect with that long ago history that I have with them," said family friend Ann Issuer.
Love was to graduate from the University of Virginia in two weeks.
Friends wondered what could have been.
"It just makes me believe, you know, that anything can happen and the smallest sign could be the biggest sign that you are going to get about making something preventable," said Yeardley's friend Joe Kelly.
Yeardley Love is survived by her mother Sharon and her sister Lexie.
In the program an essay Love wrote her freshman year in high school said, "So far my life has been filled with joy and happiness and I hope to keep living my life that way."
Love's high school, the Notre Dame Prepartory School in Baltimore, Maryland established the Yeardley Love Memorial Fund this week.
UVA is also collecting money for the Yeardley Love Women's Lacrosse Scholarship Fund.
