FAIRFAX, VA (WWBT) - In-state tuition rates at George Mason University will increase next year for undergrads more than 8 percent.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting the cost for next academic year will now be almost $8,700.

The Board of Visitors also agreed to raise the out-of-state undergraduate tuition by 6 percent.

It's now cheaper to go to Mason as an in-state student, compared to VCU, by a little more than $100.

The University of Mary Washington is expected to set its tuition rates Friday.
