CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Another day of remembrance on the University of Virginia Campus. A mass will be held Friday in honor of slain lacrosse player Yeardley Love.
UVA's Catholic Student Ministry is hosting the mass at the UVA chapel.
In an announcement on its website, CSM says the mass will not be a funeral or the university's memorial service, but a chance for Catholics at the University of Virginia to pray for Love.
The 22-year-old's battered body was found in her off-campus apartment early Monday.
George Huguely, a member of the men's lacrosse team and Love's ex-boyfriend, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case. Huguely had at least three past run-ins with police that were never reported to UVA.
Now this case could lead to new laws in Virginia.
Today's mass is being held one day before Love will be laid to rest. Her funeral will be held at 10 am Saturday morning at Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore.
Love's family will receive friends at a funeral home in Maryland tonight.
