HENRICO, VA (WWBT ) - Henrico Police arrested an 18-year-old male and four minors following an incident Tuesday at Highland Springs High School.

According to police, the school resource officer was told around 12:30pm that five unauthorized youths were on school grounds. While responding, he was told they had left the property.

Police say the youths, while leaving in a vehicle, nearly ran over the security guard.

Later, a second school resource officer spotted the vehicle off school grounds. Upon seeing the officer, police say the subjects turned, hit a tree, and fled the scene. They were arrested, uninjured, moments later.

Police charged Roddell Mayfield, 18, of the 2300 block of Phaup Street, with trespassing, assault, and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The four minors, whose names were not released, face charges of trespassing and assault. All five face an additional count of grand larceny, which police say is connected to the theft of the car they were using.
