RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are investigating two crimes, armed robberies, that happened on the Southside, six minutes apart on Thursday night. This all happened at the St. John's Wood apartment complex.

Police believe both crimes may be connected to the same two men.

Douglas Ezell lives in the apartment complex across the street from all the violence. Now, Douglas is ready to take a stand.

"We have to take back our streets. We can not let anybody infiltrate and take from our neighbors," says Ezell.

Police say the first robbery happened at 11 p.m., the second at 11:06 p.m. Thursday night. The first victim was a pizza delivery driver, the second victim was walking home from a bus stop. Both of the crimes happened inside the complex.

"I'm going to speak with some of my neighbors and get a neighborhood watch going because it's important that we all take part in our community. You got to take it back from the crooks," adds Ezell.

Ezell says he's tried to get a group going before, but it didn't work. He's hoping that changes now. "A thief will go to where he is safe to rob somebody. If we don't do anything, they are going to keep coming."

"We all live together, stand up for ourselves with the help of the police," says Ezell.

The news of these crimes is spreading around this busy area, as police work to find the men they say are responsible for the violence.

The suspects are described as black males, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. Police say they weigh between 120 and 140 pounds. One suspect was wearing a black T-shirt and close-cut hair, and the other had on a white T-shirt.
